what is sports massage?
The prime purpose of sports massage therapy is to help alleviate the stress and tension which can build up in the body’s soft tissues. Sports massage helps prevent injuries, treat injuries already incurred and improve well-being within the patient.
Sports massage is not just for the sports person. Patients include desk workers, trades people and the retired.
Sports massage tends to be a deeper massage. It is based on the various elements of Swedish massage and often incorporates a combination of other techniques involving stretching, compression, friction, toning, and trigger point response techniques similar to Acupressure and Shiatsu.
At the Bradbourne Osteopathic Practice we offer 30, 45 and 60 minute sports massage appointments. Initial appointment must be 60 minutes.
